On a drive down Lafayette Avenue in Suffern, it’s hard not to notice Bare Laser Medspa. The med spa is a treat for the eyes, with a crisp white and pink interior that stands out amid the strip plaza shops on the avenue. The space looks elegant, attractive, and precisely like the sort of place you’d want to go to kick back, relax, and beautify in the Hudson Valley.
Of course, that’s precisely what owner Monica DeAngelis intended when she debuted the med spa in August 2022.
“People love it,” she enthuses. “It’s so rewarding.”

For DeAngelis, who’s originally from Brazil and has a background in law, opening Bare Laser Medspa was not just a passion project, but a full career switch. Having worked in solar energy for eight years prior, she decided to open the med spa to find more fulfillment in her career. After shadowing a friend who has med spas in New York City for close to a year, she enrolled in aesthetics school in order to become a licensed esthetician.
After originally pursuing a retail location that fell through just before the start of the pandemic, DeAngelis found her perfect spot in the heart of Suffern’s downtown. Because it was formerly a phone store, she commenced a full-scale renovation in February 2022 that wrapped in June 2022. By August 2022, she was ready to officially debut Bare Laser Medspa to the Hudson Valley.
So what can one expect at Bare Laser Medspa?
To start, the space is all about education and openness. Unlike many med spas, DeAngelis lists all product prices and information on her website and in her brochures. She aims for transparency so customers know how much everything costs and what to expect. Bare Laser Medspa offers a roster of services, so DeAngelis works with customers to help them find what they’re looking for to get the best results.
At the core of Bare’s services is laser hair removal. Using cutting-edge technology, the med spa has a range of laser hair removal services for both men and women. The sessions are easy, fast, and leave lasting results that clients love.
“Laser hair removal is so popular,” DeAngelis notes, adding that she offers inhouse financing to make multi-session packages more affordable.
In addition, the Suffern destination also specializes in photo rejuvenation and skin tightening services, the latter which includes everything from laser skin tightening to micro-needling. DeAngelis explains that photo rejuvenation is ideal for color correction and removing pigmentation, while laser skin tightening assists with boosting collagen production. For anyone interested in body sculpting, Bare offers a range of body treatments, which include L-Sculpt and Lipomax RF for different areas of the body. Facials are on the lineup as well, and Bare offers the cult-favorite Hydrafacial® to cleanse and hydrate the skin.
Most recently, Bare debuted two exciting additions to its offerings. In terms of treatments, the med spa added the Fotona SP Dynamis machine, an all-star piece of technology that features two lasers and targets multiple areas. Using this device, Bare can help target acne scarring, offer lip plumping sans filters or downtime, assist with skin resurfacing, reduce undereye bags, and more.
To make costs more affordable, Bare Laser Medspa now offers memberships as well. There are three tiers (silver, gold, and platinum) available, and they give members access to their choice of select treatments or discounts off of premium treatments each month. Members can also save varying percentages on all services booked.
For DeAngelis, the ultimate goal is to foster a community of educated and engaged customers.
“What I’m trying to do is educate and empower my consumer,” she says. “An educated consumer is a better consumer. At the end of the day, they trust you to educate them and say ‘This is how it works.’ I’m in this for personal fulfillment and to make a difference and raise the standards in this industry.”
Looking ahead, DeAngelis is excited to continue to support beauty and healthy lifestyle practices in the Hudson Valley through pop-ups and special events as well.
