An Up-Close Look at the Tappan Zee Bridge's Explosive Final Moments

After 62 years of service (and a couple more being decommissioned), Westchester finally says goodbye to our beloved Tapp.

A little before 11 a.m. today, January 15, a local legend was laid to rest.

The final eastern span of the Tappan Zee Bridge, Westchester’s last vestige of the old pass was given a sort of Viking funeral, as demolition teams set off charges to cause the supports to fail and drop the structure into the Hudson, much to the bittersweet excitement of onlookers.
