We’ll come right out and say: Hudson River Photographer shoots some of the Valley’s most beautiful same-sex weddings. Don and Mark’s wedding at Shadow Lawn in High Falls was no exception, but it’s not just the beautiful photography that caught our eye. We were immediately smitten with the tender emotion between these two men who had been together for 22 years. “We were encouraged [to throw a celebration] by our daughter who dreamed of being a flower girl,” says the couple. “We chose the first venue we visited. We could immediately picture our celebration unfolding on the grounds — the lawn for the ceremony and cocktails, the barn for dinner, and in back for an after party.”
The weekend-long wedding stretched over three days with cocktail hour on Friday night, a hike on Saturday, and a farewell brunch at Don and Mark’s nearby country house on Sunday morning. “Our family members were our wedding procession,” adds the couple, whose after-party included an ice cream truck, s’mores, and a bonfire. “Everyone traveled at least a bit, so we wanted to spend as much time with our guests as possible.”
