Halloween Spooktacular
Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum, Poughkeepsie
October 26, 5:30-8 p.m.
Kick off the weekend with a Halloween party designed especially for the littlest ghouls and goblins in the Valley. Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum hosts trick-or-treating and multiple costume contests for families throughout the evening. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Mid-Hudson event without an added dose of education, too. Young learners can decorate pumpkins and explore their creativity in the process.
Trick-or-Treating at a Horse Farm
Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue, Dover Plains
October 27, 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Bring your pint-sized ghosts and witches to Lucky Orphans for its third annual trick-or-treating event. In addition to candy collection, kids can also look forward to meet-and-greets with the horses, during which they can learn more about the rescue work that the Dover Plains organization undertakes. Crafts and games will be onsite at the free family fest as well.
HalloWoodstock
Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, Woodstock

In honor of its last weekend of tours in 2018, Woodstock Farm Sanctuary ends the season on a high note with its third annual HalloWoodstock festival. The full-day event includes attractions for attendees of all ages, from hayrides to visit the 380-plus farm animals on the grounds and pumpkin painting parties to vegan trick-or-treating and a bouncy house for kids. As for what to eat, don’t pass up on the scrumptious hot chocolate, pizza, empanadas, and vegan-friendly treats from local vendors like Commissary!, The Green Palate, and Tin Can Juicery.
Trick-or-Treating in The Fields
Art Omi, Ghent
October 27, 1-4 p.m.
Bring the kiddos to The Fields at Art Omi, Ghent’s expansive art center, for a jampacked afternoon of crafting, trick-or-treating, and hayrides galore. Costumes are encouraged at the out-of door Halloween bash, and celebrants young and old can look forward to sampling cider, popcorn, and crisp apples throughout the day.
Monsters Inc. Film Screening
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Bethel
October 28, 12-4 p.m.
Experience the family-friendly thrill of Halloween at Bethel Woods this Sunday. The arts and education enter goes all out for All Hallows’ Eve with a costume contest, a Monster Mash dance party, and a screening of Monsters, Inc. at 2 p.m. To sweeten the party, the Café at Bethel will serve up themed treats like mummy pizzas and bloody cherry cheesecake.
Celtic Halloween Party
Tompkins Corners Cultural Center, Putnam Valley
October 28, 2 p.m.
Join the Tompkins Corners Cultural Center on Sunday afternoon to commemorate the spirit of Samhain, the Celtic New Year celebration upon which a number of contemporary Halloween traditions are based. Local musicians will perform traditional Celtic music, while fresh-baked treats will be available to fuel party-goers. Don’t forget to come in costume!
The Speakeasy Scandal
Bad Seed Cider Co, Highland

Slip into your Gilded Era finest for a full night of mystery, mayhem, and gourmet treats at Bad Seed Cider. COOKED Murder Mystery Supper Club presents the interactive dinner, which includes an open bar and a four-course food tasting from Chef Wheeler del Torro. Bring a friend to help work your way through the clues – and the plot twists – that take place throughout the evening.
Beacon Horrorshow Screening: Nosferatu
Quinn’s, Beacon
October 28, 7:30 p.m.
Leave the kids at home for this spooktacular film screening, which is part of Story Screen Beacon’s fourth annual pop-up Horrorshow series. This week’s flick, Nosferatu (1922), immerses viewers into the classic vampire tale, but with a twist. Throughout the night, a live score and performances by “filmbarkers” add to the entertainment value of the evening. The screening is free, and snacks and drinks are available at Quinn’s.
