3 Valentine’s Day Date Night Style Ideas

Whether your style is flirty, romantic, or casual, here’s what to wear on Valentine’s Day

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, now is the perfect time to plan out that special outfit. I don’t know about you, but I love dressing to a theme and will undoubtedly be wearing quite a bit of red come the big day. Of course, there are a ton of colors and prints that would work well for the occasion. Here are a few different outfit ideas for February 14 — or for any date night in general.

Look #1: Casual Date Night

Going to the movies or hanging out at a diner calls for a more relaxed outfit. To create a casual, yet classy ensemble, reach for your favorite pair of dark wash skinny or straight-leg jeans. Dark rinse denim looks flattering on everyone, especially when you rock it with a pair of pointed toe flats. Throw on a button-down pink shirt with a fitted black blazer for a style that is sure to impress your date. Seal the deal with a swipe of statement pink lipstick, and you’re good to go.

Look #2: Fashion-Forward Flirt

If you’re feeling a bit more daring, try this on-trend date night idea. Begin with a sleek pencil skirt in a statement color like fuchsia or marsala (Pantone’s Color of the Year; see how I wore it here). Pair it with a printed oversize floral top for a look that is very Dolce & Gabbana-esque. Finish things off with some black pumps, lipstick in the same shade as your skirt, and a structured black handbag. Your outfit will be sure to wow — and your confidence level will be through the roof.

Look #3: The Polished Romantic

This look is perfect for an intimate dinner at a fancy restaurant. Choose a dress in pale pink or deep oxblood to channel the romance of the evening. If you want something really special, find a dress with a lace overlay, beading, or embroidery. These details will make the dress into a statement item so that the rest of the outfit is easy to put together. Add a pair of sparkly earrings and pale metallic gold or muted black heels. Wrap it all up with a bit of pale pink lipstick and, if your hair is long enough, a loose braid or a messy bun. Your date won’t be able to look away!
