PET PHOTO CONTEST RULES
Submit your quirkiest, cutest, or funniest photo of your pet — all animals are welcome! — and answer a few questions about them between August 21 and September 8, 2015. Our editors will select the top pets to be featured in the November 2015 issue and on our Web site.
The winning entry will receive a prize package consisting of:
• A free two-night, three-day “Golden Paws Package” weekend stay at Pet N Play Resort
• A professional photo shoot featuring your pet
• A free 8 x 10 professional photograph of your pet
• Bragging rights (natch!)
By submitting photos, entrants agree to these terms per Hudson Valley Magazine:
ELIGIBILITY AND ODDS OF WINNING:
RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:
All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Hudson Valley Magazine assumes no responsibility or liability whatsoever for damages, loss, or injury resulting from participating in any contest or acceptance or use of any prize.
DISQUALIFICATION AND PENALTIES:
All participants agree to be bound by these rules. Hudson Valley Magazine, in its sole discretion, further reserves the right to disqualify any person for (i) violating any of these rules, (ii) tampering with the entry process, (iii) gaining an unfair advantage in participating in the contest, (iv) obtaining winner status using fraudulent means, or (v) engaging in otherwise unsportsmanlike, disruptive, or threatening behavior.
FAQs:
Can I enter if I live outside of the Hudson Valley?
No. If you and your pet live outside the Hudson Valley — which consists of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, and Ulster Counties — you are not eligible to enter the contest.
Is the contest limited to photos of dogs and cats?
No! All pets are encouraged to enter. Photographs of dogs and cats may make up the bulk of entries; however, our judges will make sure the contest is fair and equal for all of our friends, whether furry, feathered, webbed, or scaled.
Can I submit multiple pets?
You may submit more than one pet, though each submission and corresponding photograph should feature only one pet at a time.
What happens once I submit my photograph?
Our editors will review all submissions and select their favorite pet photos. Once the pet finalists have been selected, we will publish them online to a photo gallery, as well as to our social media pages. We encourage our readers and their friends to comment on their favorites; we might include those comments for quotes in the mag or online.
Will my personal information be viewable online?
Photographs of pets will be published online for all to see. However, your personal information — other than your pet’s information (name, breed, description) — cannot be viewed by anyone other than the judges.
Is the pet contest open to professional photographers?
Our pet contest is open to all types of photographers. What’s more important is that we see your pet’s personality! The funnier the photograph, the better — though good lighting doesn’t hurt.
What kinds of photographs are allowed?
We prefer high-resolution (300 dpi) photographs, though any image is accepted. Images must be clear (not blurry or dark). Show us the best representation of your pet!
