Ian Kingsley spent his high school and college summers doing what he loved. Unlike his fellow classmates, he wasn’t lying poolside or road-tripping with friends. Instead, Kingsley happily worked alongside his dad, trimming and pruning trees at Henry L. Kingsley Tree Care.
Six years ago, Kingsley grabbed the reins of the business that his father had conducted since the ’60s. Rebranding simply as “Kingsley Tree Care,” he provides residents of Putnam County and southern Dutchess County with eco-conscious and efficient work. After all, that’s to be expected from a tree lover who graduated with a forest health degree from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2011.
“Take time and respect things,” Kingsley says, passion easily discerned in his voice. “I just love trees. I want them to be healthy and the best they can be.”
The business provides pruning of dead wood, cabling (installing cables to support weak branches or multi-trunk trees), tree removal, and planting in the fall months.
“There’s no real typical day. Everything changes, and it’s the reason why I like the job,” he chuckles. One thing that is constant is his eco-conscious mindset.
Sometimes homeowners expect providers to “get in and get out,” according to Kingsley. To him, being respectful of environmental surroundings and ensuring safe removals is top priority. We expect nothing less from a tree-hugger.
