Could your home use a burst of summer style to welcome the season? Read up on these easy and approachable tips from area design pros, which cover everything from light and color to rugs and accessories.
“When thinking about summer décor, take time to evaluate your space from a light/dark perspective. To create contrast, darken your darks, and lighten your lights. To do that, you can add fresh flowers and pops of color, as well as bringing the outdoors inside in subtle ways.”

“Roll up your winter rugs and switch them out with natural-fiber, flat-weave rugs. I prefer cotton, woven grasses, sisal, or even the alternative indoor/outdoor polypropylene rugs, when a pet-friendly selection is required. Pair the new rug with throw pillows to co-ordinate or mix and match. A quick color change can go a long way.”

“Shine on! Accessorize your space with reflective items that will show off summer’s sunshine. Choose a mirrored tray instead of a wooden one. Use iridescent vases instead of ceramic ones.”
