“To make a small room look larger, I start with a rug that leaves only a narrow bit of floor around the edges of the room. Use a neutral paint color in a medium tone and similar-colored appropriately sized furnishings. Finish off [the room] with accent tables of metal and glass to give a stronger illusion of space. Keep the additions of color to a minimum to keep the room from looking chaotic.”

In a small breakfast nook, a table and banquette that perfectly fit a bay window will give you so much more seating for your family than just a table with chairs around it.
