Style

“The Hudson Woods design is ‘modern cabin vernacular’ with a nature-centric design that encourages people to spend more time outdoors,” says principal architect Drew Lang. “Each home is built with sustainable and locally sourced materials.”

This great room overlooks the pool and includes floor-to-ceiling wood windows that slide away to facilitate pool parties and entertaining — “all tying back to the concept that a life lived at Hudson Woods is one lived in concert with your surroundings and nature,” adds Lang.

Favorite Part

“The great room with floor-to-ceiling gable end window wall,” says Lang.

Challenge

The dense forest [and] sloped rocky soils were both challenging for this build.

Materials

“It was important for us to source locally as much as possible,” says Lang. “To build the property, we created a network of collaborators that included area makers, chefs, crafts people, builders, and brewers tapped fully into Upstate New York’s entrepreneurial and creative energy. Seamlessly integrated with the landscape, we constructed a pool with a palette of bluestone pavers and dry-laid walls, a gunite pool structure, and integrally colored plaster finish.”
