According to Worth Global Style Network (WGSN), a leading trend forecasting company, the 2024 color of the year is Apricot Crush. We checked in with interior designer Marina Case to find out why this hue is hot, and the best ways to use it in your home.
Why do you think this is the “it” color right now?
Given the current climate of what’s happening in the world, this shade works to lift our spirits. I’m seeing it in clothing in local stores in Hudson (like Manifest Boutique on Warren Street) and in home textiles and accessories at the biannual High Point Market in North Carolina. I absolutely adore this color and use it often to make a statement in our interior projects.
What are some ways to add a splash of peach?
It looks great in the back of a bookcase to enliven the space. I also love using it in lamps, wallpaper, and accent pillows to add fun pops of color to rooms.
Thoughts on apricot paint?
It would make a lovely powder room color because it would feel unexpected as you walk in and make a small space feel larger. It would also add an element of cheer. I would add brass accessories and fixtures to go with it. It’s also a good color to create interior hallway transitions from one room to another—such as an entry to a primary bedroom or back hall to the rest of the house. I would also use apricot as an accent wall color behind a headboard with complimentary linens. A few to look for: Coral Rock 032, Coral Glow 026, and Monticello Peach 018 from Benjamin Moore. Also, Sunset 6626 from Sherwin-Williams is great.
