A Luxury Living Community Settles on Poughkeepsie’s Waterfront

Enjoy riverside views with a high-end feel at downtown Poughkeepsie’s new One Dutchess apartment complex.

Residential life on Poughkeepsie’s waterfront is booming with the new One Dutchess apartment complex. Located right on the Hudson, the apartments have some of the best views in Poughkeepsie and are conveniently located near the city’s parks, colleges, and downtown life. Described as luxury apartments, the units feature quartz stone countertops, nine-foot ceilings, and walk-in closets in contemporary styles.

The apartment design showcases neutral, elegant fixtures and refined details throughout, giving weight to their upscale billing. One, two, and three-bedroom, pet-friendly units — named things like The Delano or The Vanderbilt after local historic figures — are available in the three separate four-story buildings and cost $1,525-$2,900 per month. Attractive for younger couples and retirees alike, these units have a wide range of amenities that cover a variety of needs.

While interior boasts high-end appliances, vinyl plank floors, and large riverview windows, the surrounding grounds outside house a community area with even more to offer. Outdoors, residents can make use of the heated swimming pool, wading pool, Jacuzzi, rooftop terrace, outdoor kitchen and barbecue, spa and sauna, and, most notably, a 1400-foot walking trail along the river that will connect to Poughkeepsie’s Walkway-Over-the-Hudson via the upper landing park, with access to the elevator to come.

With plans to expand to include retail facilities on the premises, One Dutchess will soon become one of many live-work-play communities on the Hudson, rivaling the up-and-coming Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park or the Hudson Valley Wine Village in Highland. Though many complexes offer similar features, One Dutchess stands out with its unique riverfront and its proximity to downtown Poughkeepsie’s Little Italy, Waryas Park, and fine dining destinations.

To sweeten the deal, the complex sits in walking distance to Poughkeepsie’s train station, which offers a quick and scenic ride to Manhattan, making it highly attractive for commuters or locals who just want to spend a day in the city.

Currently, One Dutchess is in Phase I of a three-part development. The initial construction includes 139 apartments divided between three buildings (B, C, and D). Buildings B and C both have 42 apartments and community rooms with access to rooftop terraces, while Building D has 55 apartments under a parking garage and comes with a fitness center, sauna and steam room, virtual fitness room, coffee lounge, game room, and library. In addition to the apartment development, Phase I also sees the completion of outdoor amenities like a courtyard with a heated pool, wading, pool, and Jacuzzi, along with a fire pit and four outdoor barbecue kitchens. Nearby, a clubhouse offers access to the rooftop lounge, while the dog run and bocce court tempt those with active lifestyles.

As of June 28, Building B is available for occupancy. Of the 42 apartments, 22 are already occupied and 15 are pre-leased, with five units still available for rentals. Beginning in August, Building C, which is already 80-percent pre-leased, will open for occupancy. A month later in September, Building D will follow suit.

Once Phase I wraps, Phase II will begin in earnest and consist of 161 apartments divided between five buildings. In addition to apartments, one of the buildings (Building A) will also hold a commercial/retail space with room for a two-story restaurant in the future. In that same building, a larger fitness area and a theater room are a delight for residents who crave live-work-play attractions. Coming soon, storage units will be available onsite for tenants as well.

Last but not least, Phase III hops over to the Town of Poughkeepsie, where project developers hope to gain approval for the construction of two additional buildings with 84 total apartments.
