The Orchards of ConcklinPomona

Family-owned since 1711, this farm, orchard, and shop has been a Rockland County favorite for generations. Featuring a sprawling 400 acres of land where you can pick your own apples during the season, and a modest farm stand with fresh produce, the Orchards also offer a wide selection of baked goods, including apple cider doughnuts, cookies, and cakes.

Samuel’s Sweet Shop, Rhinebeck

This shop has been selling sweets in Beacon since 1922. Not only does it have your basic chocolate needs, but it puts a fun twist on classics. From holiday specials to old-fashion favorites to classic chocolates, this confectionery has it all. Try the house specials like chocolate covered popcorn and Twizzlers. If that’s not your speed, try one of the many flavors of truffles that are so decadent you’ll be begging for just one more.

Lucas Candies, Haverstraw 

There is no messing around with this sweet shop. Candy lovers can sample everything from classic chocolate bars to cheeky, original creations like the PMS Bar. The sweet and salty bar is a combination of peanut butter, milk chocolate, potato chips, and a semi-sweet chocolate drizzle that will take you straight to chocolate heaven. If chocolate isn’t your thing, opt for some of the house-made beer brittle, made with craft beer from Kuka Brewery. For a limited time in September and October, seasonal brittle will be made with Defiant Brewery Company’s Pumpkin Ale.
