Weir’s Ice Cream Is a Classic Sweets Shop in the Hudson Valley

Have you ever stopped by Weir’s Ice Cream before? The shop is a must-visit if you’re near Salisbury Mills in the summer months.

Originally founded in 1956 by George Weir and his son Arthur, Weir’s is still a family business, with Arthur’s daughter Liz Weir at the helm for the past 20 years. The original menu started with ice cream, sundaes, and shakes. In the summer of 1977, the Weirs added frozen yogurt and slushes, and during the ’80s and ’90s, ice cream cakes, homemade hard ice cream, Cyclones, and Italian ices were introduced. It’s easy to find yourself drooling over your options while you wait to order; colorful images of their ice cream treats are plastered to the outside of the building. Today, Weir’s has more than 48 flavors of hard ice cream, sherbet, and Italian ice: enjoy a classic like coffee or pistachio, or new flavors like chocolate macaroon crunch and salted-caramel peanut crunch.

Weir's Ice Cream

What’s Hot? “Soft-serve is super delicious and popular, but our homemade hard ice cream is gaining ground,” says Liz Weir.
