4 Hudson Valley Wines to Sweeten Your Valentine’s Day

Toast to love and the end of Dry January with these Hudson Valley wines that are ideal for your Valentine’s Day date night.

If you’re not dining out or planning a weekend escape for Valentine’s Day this year, stay in with a bottle of locally produced wine instead. After all, the February holiday wouldn’t be complete without at least one glass of rosé, red, or chardonnay. Thankfully, we have some stellar recommendations courtesy of Millbrook Winery in Dutchess County that are sure to impress your sweetheart for the big day. Best of all, each Hudson Valley wine can be ordered online and shipped in time for the holiday with the option of creating a custom label to make the moment even more memorable.

Cabernet Franc

Lighter than cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc is a bright red wine that’s best enjoyed fireside with your partner. Cabernet franc grapes grow well in cool climates, making the Hudson Valley an ideal location for the variety. Millbrook produces a distinguished vintage of the famous wine with a violet- and berry-coated bottle that was created with a little extra love and care.

Chardonnay

If you’re not a red person, chardonnay is the perfect pick for your Valentine’s Day. The dry white wine is a wonderful complement to fish or poultry, with aromas of pear, pineapple, and hazelnut. Millbrook’s 2021 Castle Hill Chardonnay is made from grapes grown on the estate’s property, offering something you can’t find elsewhere in the country.

Rosé

A Valentine’s Day staple, rosé is renowned for its pink hue and lighter, sometimes sweeter flavor. With less alcohol content than its red counterpart, this pink-tinted wine is one that couples can feel free to sip all night long. Millbrook Winery’s 2023 All Day Hunt Country Rosé has been awarded the title of best rosé in the Hudson Valley by the Hudson Valley Wine and Grape Association thanks to its strawberry, cherry, and Meyer lemon aroma.

Wild Card

You know that bottle you reserve for a special holiday? (Sometimes it’s champagne for graduations or whiskey for weddings.) For Valentine’s Day, it’s got to be wine. From Millbrook Winery, you’ll want to reach for Bernie’s Blend, which is New York Yankees legend Bernie Williams’ own creation with the winery. A one-of-a-kind bottle that’s perfect for wine enthusiasts, sports fans, and musicians alike, it’s a vintage that’s perfect for toasting with your special someone on February 14.
