Family-owned and -operated since 1987, Tosco’s Pizzeria has become something of a mainstay in the Hudson Valley. What started as a small slice shop at its original location in New Windsor has since grown into a big name in the region, with pizzerias in Rosendale, Monroe, New Windsor, Wallkill, Pine Bush, and, most recently, Saugerties. Although the Tosco name is most often associated with pizza, each eatery also dishes up fresh Italian specialties and Mexican meals that delight.
Originally named Sal’s Pizza after founder Salvatore Tosco Sr., Tosco’s Pizzeria prides itself on a welcoming environment and friendly staff. Established out of a deep love for real food that is fresh, healthy, and authentic, Tosco’s only uses real ingredients like farm-fresh eggs, organic tomatoes, freshwater fish, and free-range beef at each of its locations. For the pizzeria, each dish is a wholesome expression of the family’s love for food and life.

Hailing from Sicily, Italy, the Tosco family immigrated to the United States in 1978. Salvatore Tosco Sr. initially pursued a career in construction while he and his wife saved money and learned to speak English. Eventually, the Toscos decided to open their pizzeria to pursue their passion for cooking and good food. Following the success of their original New Windsor location, the Toscos passed the family business down to their children Salvatore Jr. and Giuseppe, who managed to expand upon their parents’ vision for a place that brings people together through good food.
When it comes to the perfect pie, Tosco’s Pizzeria has the recipe. Gourmet slices and seasonal options abound, including the crazy chicken pizza, which comes topped with just about every sauce you’ve ever put on chicken, and the Mexican pizza, which is the perfect blend of cuisines if you’re indecisive. For Salvatore Tosco Jr., the Tosco’s special pizza is his pick – topped with grilled chicken, roasted peppers, and fresh mozzarella.

Aside from pizza, don’t shy away from the menu’s many other options, including strombolis, stacked subs and heroes, wings, traditional pasta dishes, tacos, and authentic Italian desserts like tiramisu, cannoli, and mousse cake.
Since opening the newest location in Saugerties in December, Tosco’s Pizzeria has only grown more popular with Hudson Valleyites who are looking to try something new and inventive. For Salvatore Tosco Jr., he affirms “I am focused on perfecting the food we make now, reaching as many members of the community as possible, and overall creating the best dining experience. I want to continue my parents’ goal of bringing people together through a good meal.”
