The Ruck, Troy

The Hop, Beacon
This super cozy new hot spot — both a retail store and a tasting room — offers more than 250 craft beers, including nine on tap. The artisanal farm-to-table fare (we like the local cheeses and the house-made sausages) are as popular as the brew. 845-440-8676; www.thehopbeacon.com
Golden Rail Ale House, Newburgh
Modeled after a traditional English pub, this is one of the longest continually operating taverns in Orange County. Twenty varieties of beer on tap and more than 75 in bottles keep beer enthusiasts happy (to stay busy they can also play darts, pool, and foosball). Movie buffs can snap a picture with the “Thin Queen Tavern” sign — the ale house was featured in the 2001 cult classic Super Troopers. 845-565-2337; www.thegoldenrail.com
The Dutch Ale House, Saugerties
Apparently, the 15 craft beers on tap inspired the owners of this popular beer joint (they are also known for their burgers). Last year, they opened their own microbrewery on site and are now creating three of their own brews. 845-247-2337; www.dutchalehouse.com
The Gunk Haus, Highland
Named for its stunning view of the Shawangunk Ridge, this restaurant serves mostly German fare, which you can enjoy inside or at picnic tables in the outdoor biergarten. There are at least nine beers (including local and German imports) and one cider on tap at all times, as well as a few bottle options.
