On a warm day, we can’t decide between the refreshing Thai iced coffee and the single-origin Americano with sparkling water and an orange wedge at Big Mouth Coffee Roasters, a new Main Street Beacon coffee house with a hippo-centric logo and space enough to fit several of these hefty creatures.

OUR PICK: Hudson Valley Farm to Fork Fondo

June 9–10

Hop on your bicycle and push your pedal to the metal for this choose-your-own distance ride through some of Orange County’s most scenic landscapes. Cyclists will ride 10, 35, 50, or 80 miles with aid stations located at various farms throughout the course. Following the fondo, enjoy live music, a barbecue from Warwick Valley Winery’s Pané Cafe, and tastings of cider and spirits. First Class registration will get you a ticket to the Meet the Farmers dinner, a four-course, farm-to-table meal on the night before the race. Prices vary by distance.
