Essie’s Restaurant will be showcasing the brews of newcomer, Cousins Ale Works Brewery, in Dutchess this month. Expect some soulful pairings by CIA-trained Chef Brandon Walker at this beer dinner on May 6.

OUR PICK: Hudson Valley Wine and Chocolate Festival

May 5–6; Patterson Recreation Center, Patterson

At this year’s event, which is Kentucky Derby-themed, taste the finest chocolate, wine, spirits, cider, and craft beer from around the region while wearing your best race-day garb. There will be additional vendors with goods like honey, olive oil, and crafts, plus food trucks parked onsite, a chocolate fondue bar, and prizes awarded to the best Kentucky Derby hats in the crowd. The event is expected to sell out, so buy your tickets in advance.
