Over the next decade, it moved from Pleasantville to Elmsford, opened a tasting room and bottling line, created a sour ale production wing it calls the Fermento Funk Facility — and celebrated its 10th anniversary last summer as a now nationally recognizable name. Crossroads Brewing CompanyAthens In 2009, Janine Bennett and Ken Landin moved from Queens to Athens, bought the run-down Brooks Opera House, and turned it into the Crossroads Brewing Company. Druthers Brewing CompanyAlbany Located in the burgeoning warehouse district of downtown Albany, Druthers has become a force in the upper Hudson Valley since it opened its first location in Saratoga Springs. In fact, it announced in January that it will soon launch its third location at Mohawk Harbor near the new Rivers Casino. Master brewer George de Piro’s concoctions have won numerous beer medals. Hudson Valley BreweryBeaconJohn-Anthony Gargiulo, formerly a camera and dolly “grip” in Hollywood, returned home to open the brewery in an abandoned 19th-century factory. Brewers and co-owners of the operation, Michael Renganeschi and Jason Synan, both previously at the Brewery at Bacchus in New Paltz, run a 30-barrel system that produces eight beers, most of them IPAs or in a sour style. Suarez Family BreweryLivingston Last year was a big one for Dan Suarez and Taylor Cocalis. They had a baby, and launched a brewery. Both are hard work, and both are incredibly rewarding.
