Strawberry Place’s Waistline Waffle, left, is topped with fresh fruit and whipped cream
|
Generations of Nyack residents have grown up visiting the family-friendly, cash-only Strawberry Place, painted a cheery, welcoming red. Owner Vinny Cuccia says it’s been in his family for almost 40 years, faithfully serving up breakfast and lunch. Expect a wait on the weekends at this 50-seater, where customers like Woody Allen and Rosie O’Donnell have also waited on line. People come out in all weather for the omelets, waffles, and French toast — which always include a hefty portion of fresh fruit. Challah bread stuffed with bananas and fresh peaches, and topped with fresh strawberries and blueberry sauce is the most popular dish on the menu. Come lunchtime, the grilled chicken with spinach and mozzarella rings up sales all afternoon. Since nothing on the menu costs more than $8.95, it’s a no-brainer to bring the family. Everything changes with the season, like the springtime Benedict — poached eggs with grilled tomatoes and avocado on a flaky croissant. Sidewalk seating to accommodate 20 is available in warmer weather. Closed Mondays. 845-358-9511
