Shakesbeer Festival Contest Winner

Find out who won tickets to the Shakesbeer Festival

Last week, we asked you to send us your best rhyming couplets about the Bard or local beer for a chance to win two passes to the Shakesbeer Festival on Sunday, April 6 (get more details about the event here). Well, we certainly got what we asked for! You’re all incredible wordsmiths, but we could only award one with our prize. Congratulations to our winner, Diane Fanelli of Hyde Park, for her two-liner below:

Big Easy Blondes, cool and tasty without falter,
My husband drinks one, but took another to the altar

Congratulations, Diane! Just for fun, see some of our other favorite submissions below:

Lydia O., Poughkeepsie:
It’s no easy task to try and grasp Shakespeare’s complicated tales,

I hath tasted beers from ’ore the land,

Though Shakespeare has much and my own surely pales,
We would both give our fame for a pint of ale.

That is not the question, but what type of beer?
