New Restaurants, Openings, Closings, and Hudson Valley Food and Dining News for August 2013

News and notes from the Valley’s dining scene for August 2013

The Food Network’s Restaurant: Impossible gave Joe Willy’s Fish Shack in Fishkill a makeover this spring. The eatery’s newly nautical ambiance features fresh blue paint alongside various renderings of sea creatures. Diners can now order Restaurant: Impossible specialty dishes such as pan-seared scallops or the crab cake burger… Spring also saw the shuttering of Billy Joe’s Ribworks Outpost in Wappingers Falls. The establishment decided to focus attention on its Newburgh flagship location… Dutchess County recently welcomed two new hot spots. Beacon’s Dim Sum Go Go set up shop in an old bank building on Main Street this April. The Asian-inspired eatery features both dim sum dishes and traditional Cantonese options. Amenia’s Cozy Corner Café and Tap Room opened in May and is living up to its name. With tables, booths, and stool seating available, diners can munch on specialties like the house-made potato gnocchi or cider-brined pork chop in a comfortable atmosphere. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant is also available for catering and events… Cirulli’s Pizzeria in Tannersville began operations in June. The traditional Italian restaurant serves a multitude of pizzas — including the Cirulli Supreme which is layered with meatballs, pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and olives — as well as other Italian staples… The Shawangunk Wine Trail — a group of vineyard owners that organizes events to highlight the Valley’s winemaking history — gained its 14th member in May. The Clearview Vineyard in Warwick, which has been in operation since 2004, opened a 3,800-square-foot winery and tasting room at the beginning of June… Champions among us: Washingtonville’s Brotherhood Winery (which carries the distinction of being the nation’s oldest winery) and Joseph’s Steakhouse in Hyde Park both received a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, which is widely regarded as the world’s largest travel Web site. The distinction places them among the top 10 percent of businesses worldwide listed on the site. Hats off to both!
