We’re unwrapping the best Valley venues open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, just for you. This December, you deserve an unforgettable holiday meal with all the trimmings and none of the stress.

Order entire family meals for pickup or reserve a date night for two at some of the Hudson Valley’s finest establishments. Place orders and make reservations soon since, at 50-percent capacity, restaurants book fast. These are the tastiest menus to savor locally for the holidays.

Adelphi Hotel

Pick-up Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
Three-course dinners $59.95 per person
Saratoga Springs

The Adelphi Hotel brings all of the decadence of fine dining to your home this year. Colorful fare like a burrata appetizer with butternut squash, pomegranate, and pumpkin seeds brings the holidays to life. Entrée options include slow roasted duck, braised short rib, and roasted salmon, while buche de noel and eggnog panna cotta sweeten the pot for dessert. Order by December 22 for either Christmas Eve dinner or a glorious Christmas Day lunch. Pick-up hours are 10 a.m. — 5 p.m. Christmas Eve, and 10 a.m. — 1 p.m. Christmas Day.

Pick the black angus prime rib, and you’ll get a creamy lobster bisque, grilled asparagus, truffled mashed potatoes, and a decadent chocolate raspberry mousse. Go with the cedar planked salmon, and try cheesy parmesan polenta, crab and corn chowder, garlic green beans, and, for dessert, a peach-blackberry cobbler. Plenty of boozy eggnog, spiked Mexican hot chocolate, and coquito join standard brews for a holiday libation extravaganza.

This year, completely customize your Christmas Eve and Day dinners with a vast array of hearty options. Feasts, complete with antipasti, pasta, entrees, sides, and old world desserts are available in small and medium sizes, serving families of four and up to ten, respectively. The team at Rossi’s serves mouthwatering trays of penne alla vodka, rigatoni Bolognese, and veggie lasagna alongside chicken francese, roast pork shoulder, and a Christmas Eve staple, zuppa di pesce.

A favorite throughout the Hudson Valley, Savona’s family-style Italian feasts are perfect to keep local swarm through the holidays. The family dinner special, available for takeout and curbside pickup, has been offered throughout the pandemic. Dine on festive takes on chicken and eggplant parmesan, cavatelli, and a sweet sausage meatball sauce that takes inspiration from nonnas everywhere. You can always add cannoli and house-made sangria to your order for an extra fee. If you want to dine-in for Christmas Eve, the Kingston location prepares a traditional “feast of the seven fishes,” if you really want to go old-world this year.

Ship Lantern Inn

Milton’s cozy Ship Lantern Inn offers a full takeout dinner menu for Christmas Eve. Some of the timeless classics served are escargot bourguignonne, Cajun baked oysters, gnocchi Bolognese, and veal osso buco over porcini risotto. Plenty of vegetarian options and sides are available, allowing Hudson Valley diners to take home some of the finest cuisine in Ulster County. The restaurant will be closed on Christmas Day, so enjoy a bountiful continental meal the night before Santa arrives.

When you can’t deal with the hassle of preparing a multi-course feast for December 25, do yourself a favor and bring the family to Diamond Mills. The hotel’s tavern hosts a decadent brunch buffet with the works. The menu includes homemade pastries, extravagant omelet and carving stations, and breakfast essentials like Applewood smoked bacon, maple pork sausage, and waffles.

For dessert, diners can treat themselves to any of the confections on the holiday sweets table while sipping hot coffee and tea or a complimentary brunchtime cocktail of their choosing.

Hudson House River Inn

Cold Spring

The holidays are a tradition at Cold Spring’s Hudson House River Inn, a local institution since 1832. Try the famous lobster bisque, dijon-crusted New Zealand rack of lamb, or the surf and turf. Afterward, take a stroll through Cold Spring and gaze out at one of the Hudson Valley’s best river views.

Shadows on the Hudson

Speaking of glorious Hudson River views, Shadows offers riverside dining to die for in Poughkeepsie. Seafood favorites like seared scallops, striped bass, and grilled Faroe island salmon accompany land-locked NY strips, filet mignon, and winter vegetable risotto. The Hudson Valley restaurant also has an entire Christmas Eve dinner to-go for $99, with ribeye and crab cakes for four. Order by December 23 and pick up on Christmas Eve between noon and 2 p.m.

Stagecoach Inn

Christmas Eve dinner, 49 p.m.
Three-course dinner $65 per person

On Christmas Eve, Stagecoach Inn treats diners to a showstopper of a December dinner. With reservations starting in late afternoon and both three- and four-course meals available, this is an excellent option for families. Pair the to-be-announced dishes with one of the inn’s specialty cocktails for a meal made in holiday heaven. Come back on Sunday for a festive brunch experience.


Christmas Eve, Dining room: 5-9 p.m.; Red Bistro: 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Three-course dinner, $79 per person

If you can’t bear the thought of whipping up something grand for Christmas Eve, head to Terrapin for a festive feast instead. The popular Rhinebeck eatery decks the halls for the holiday with twinkle lights and garlands galore. As for eats, diners can order off the regular menu in the Red Bistro or try specials from the prix fixe menu in the main dining room. Holiday goose with juniper demi glace, red snapper with Thai lobster-coconut curry, and grilled lamb chops round out the seasonal offerings. With a huge tapas platter and tasty cocktails, this year’s dinner is one to remember.
