In 2008, the editors of this magazine dubbed Lisa’s Cookie Shop of Warwick the makers of the best homemade cookies in the land. But it is now 2010, so we thought another taste test was in order. We’re happy to report that yep, former corporate cog Lisa Ciriello has found her calling, churning out chunky creations — including chocolate coconut chip cookies, pecan coconut bars, and her latest: chocolate-dipped crunchy peanut bars — from the commercial bakery on her property. And they’re still scrumptious, still all-natural, and still well worth the money. (Prices vary, but in general, seven large cookies or five large bars are $7.50.) While Ciriello and her husband, who joined the business full-time two years ago, will deliver their sweet treats in Warwick and the immediate area, you can stop by one of a dozen gourmet markets in the region, or order them online. “At least 50 percent of our business is now mail order, all over the country,” says Ciriello. “But I have a lot of mothers who order weekly. They’re looking for more quality. They are staying away from Oreos and the like. In this terrible economy, all-natural cookies are an affordable little luxury.”
