For the Beer Lover
Always a contender and often a winner in our annual Best of Hudson Valley contest, Mill House Brewing Company has a slew of different beers on tap: everything from the refreshing Cucumber Blessings cream ale to the silky Velvet Panda American stout. Plus, flights of five beers for $15 mean you and Pops don’t have to make any of those tough decisions. Of course, the food at Mill House can only be described as quite a few notches above pub food. Buffalo fried Brussels sprouts with blue cheese, fried pickle chips, and Thai sausage banh mi are just a taste of the cuisine coming out of their kitchen.

For the Deal Seeker
Does your dad get more satisfaction out of a triple coupon than a five-star dining experience? Then consider treating him to takeout from Main Street Bistro, renowned for their frozen-in-time prices. Play the Price is Right here, and your guess is certain to lose: Two eggs, home fries, and whole wheat toast? $1.95, no coupons necessary. Of course, other prices approach those of modern times, but still — a grilled chicken sandwich for $7.95? Not too shabby.

For the Kid at Heart
This waterfront restaurant located in Factoria at Charles Point is the perfect place for the dad whose palate and personality is playful. Outside, the charming patio overlooks the shimmering Hudson River and sets the tone for some serious seafood. Start with light bites from the raw bar or one of their shareable plates like beef empanadas or beer-steamed mussels. Entrees consist of a healthy mix of surf and turf, pitting tempura fish burritos against skirt steak. For to-go diners, don’t skip out on beer from River Outpost.

For the Sports Nut
This New City eatery is a casual spot serving mouth-watering Italian fare, with all of the basics made right in house: pasta, pizza dough, and cheese. Snack on housemade burrata, or dive right in with one of their pies, which range from standard margherita to the tantalizing Norcina with fonduta, crumbled sweet Italian sausage, and black truffle. It’s not just quick bites either: The double-cut pork chop weighs in at approximately three pounds of succulent meat that’s perfect for sharing…or not.
