CIA-trained baker and former Blue Hill pastry chef Kevin Halim opened Kelly’s Bakery at the North Point Commons development in Poughkeepsie in January. Rustic loaves, including country sourdough, kalamata olive and caramelized onion, potato-cheddar, and rye with dark chocolate and coffee-soaked figs, are made with locally sourced flour, as are the pastries, cookies, and other sweets. Westchester is getting a new brewery. Run & Hide will begin distributing its beer this summer, and plans to open a brick-and-mortar location later this year near The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester.
