Jed Gidaly knew just what the Nyack restaurant scene needed — a relaxed, fun locale with good food; a place where he and his wife would want to go. And that’s exactly the kind of eatery he opened on Main Street at Communal Kitchen, where he also serves as the chef. Gidaly conceived the cozy 50-seat restaurant as a place where guests feel as if they are eating in someone’s home, without all those stuffy restaurant rules applying. The spicy pork meatballs with chorizo tomato gravy and smoked provolone is the perfect small dish to share with friends, while the mac and cheese with “angry” shrimp, chorizo, and barbecue potato chip crust is our favorite. Pair a meal with one of 40 wines or try a handcrafted cocktail.
