Hurricane Grill & Wings burst onto the Poughkeepsie scene this summer. The sports bar-style eatery offers 30 flavors of wings, which are lumped into categories with names like “Calm Before the Storm,” “Proceed With Caution,” and “Seek Shelter” to denote their level of heat… The Grange recently opened in Warwick. Focusing on produce from local Black Dirt farms, the establishment is part retail market, part restaurant. The menu changes daily depending on which ingredients are available. Open for both lunch and dinner, the restaurant did not yet have its liquor license as we went to press… Hats off to the Shawangunk Wine Trail, whose member wineries took home a grand total of 30 awards at the September Hudson Valley Wine and Spirits Competition. Baldwin Vineyards, Benmarl Winery, Robibero Family Vineyards, and Brotherhood Winery all won gold for their various vintages, and six additional wine trail members also received honors. Other big winners included Dutchess County’s Millbrook Vineyards & Winery — which bagged both the “Winery of the Year” and “Best Overall Hudson Valley Wine” — and Columbia County’s Hudson-Chatham Winery, which took home “Best in Show.” To all this we say, cheers!
