Peace Village

Haines Falls

This learning and retreat center, part of the Brahma Kumaris spiritual movement, offers classes in Raja Yoga meditation, as well as specialized retreats based around themes like “Love and Forgiveness” and “Peace of Mind.” Participants can learn about and practice different kinds of yoga, utilize different applications of silence. All retreats are run by volunteers and funded on a donation basis.

YO1 Wellness Center

Monticello

Focusing around Ayurvedic concepts of wellness as well as naturopathy and yoga, YO1 focuses on a holistic sense of wellness, from exercise to meditation to detoxing and pain management. Courses of yoga, acupuncture, and massage are available in various retreat packages, which include lodging, chef-prepared vegetarian meals, and access to the extensive grounds.

Omega Institute

Rhinebeck

A Hudson Valley mainstay, this pioneer in holistic studies for more than 40 years sits on a sprawling Rhinebeck property with lakes, hills, and dirt roads to accentuate its courses of yoga, meditation, and Reiki. The Institute has a focus on sustainability, serving its guests vegetarian meals, and its Institute for Sustainable Living has hosted speakers like Jane Goodall and Al Gore at its NYC branch.

The Homestead at Catskill Animal Sanctuary

CAS has been providing a home to abused farm animals (not to mention a coterie of cats) for close to two decades. Guests to the Homestead stay in a renovated pre-Civil War residence, eat an organic vegan breakfast, and, most importantly, meet the hundreds of rescues on site.

Hungry Ghost Guesthouse

New Paltz

Just off the Wallkill Rail Trail, this vegan B&B offers cooking lessons and can organize trips to local spots for hiking, snowshoeing, swimming, and more. Rescued animals are also fostered on-site.

Only a few miles from Hudson, this eco-friendly guesthouse has its own gardens, salt-filtered pool, and organic breakfasts: milk, eggs, and vegetables are straight from their on-site farm.

Red Robin Song Guest House

New Lebanon

This B&B is near the Berkshires for hiking and Jiminy Peak for skiing, and has its own farm animal sanctuary and beaver rescue on site. Breakfasts are organic and all-vegan, with tofu scramble, crêpes, and pumpkin pancakes on the menu.
