Spice up your holiday cookie game (literally) with this recipe for crystalized ginger gnomes that will put a smile on everyone’s face.

Makes about 24 cookies

Ingredients:

  • ½ Master Dough Recipe (18 oz.)
  • 2 oz. soft crystalized ginger slices (available at some stores and Amazon)
  • 12 oz. red candy melting wafers (Merkins, on Amazon)
  • 2 oz. semisweet chocolate

Baking Accessory:

  • 3¾″ gnome cookie cutter
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Dice the crystalized ginger into tiny pieces.
  2. Knead the diced ginger into the dough until it is evenly distributed. Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface to an even ¼″ thickness. Cut out gnome shapes and place cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake 12–14 minutes or until very lightly golden brown.
  3. Once the cookies have cooled, dip the cone-shaped hat in melted red coating. Melt the semisweet chocolate and dip each gnome foot in to create the boots.
