For the topping:
2 Tbsp brown sugar
4 Tbsp Grand Marnier
2 tsp orange extract
6 oz strawberries, sliced
For the French toast:
1/2 cup half and half
2 Tbsp Grand Marnier
Fresh zest of 1/2 orange
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
6 slices of good gluten-free bread
Local maple syrup and powdered sugar for serving
To make topping, mix brown sugar, Grand Marnier and orange extract in a small bowl. Add the strawberries, and marinate overnight.
For the batter, whisk the half and half, eggs, Grand Marnier, zest, salt and extract in a bowl. Thoroughly dip each piece of bread in the mixture, and cook in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
To serve, cut slices on the diagonal, top with the marinated strawberries, drizzle with maple syrup, and sift some powdered sugar on top.
