Make This Boozy Strawberry Mint Tea for Hudson Valley Summers

This tea- and bourbon-based drink is perfect for barbecue season and too tasty to make just one. Mix up a pitcher and you’ll soon be the most popular person in town. As for what to pair it with, this strawberry mint tea is ideal for summer barbecue season in the Hudson Valley. Pair it with everything from a refreshing Vietnamese rice noodle salad to any of these go-to barbecue recipes for a summertime match made in heaven. Of course, if you’re just looking for a refreshing drink on a sunny afternoon, this boozy mint tea is perfectly wonderful all on its own.

Strawberry Bourbon Mint Tea

Ingredients:

4 cups water
1 cup fresh mint leaves
1½ cups Bulleit Bourbon
2 tbsp sugar
5 black tea bags
10 strawberries, sliced
1 lemon, juiced

Method: 

In large saucepan, boil 2 cups of water and sugar. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep for 8 minutes; discard bags.

Add 2 more cups of water. Place in a pitcher and chill.

Add mint and strawberries and crush. Stir in the remaining ingredients.

Serve in glasses filled with ice. Garnish each glass with a mint sprig and a strawberry slice.
