Recipe by Handsome Devil BBQ, Newburgh & Poughkeepsie
It’s summer, which means that barbecue is on the menu pretty much every weekend until further notice. Maybe you have a neighborhood potluck coming up, or perhaps you’re the usual host of some fun poolside gatherings. Either way, your grill is sure to stay hot all summer long. When it comes to pulled pork sandwiches and baby back ribs, why bother with the store-bought stuff when you can whip up your own barbecue sauce at home? This recipe from Handsome Devil BBQ is easy to prepare and so flavorful you’ll want to slather it on everything, from meat to sandwich buns to vegetables.
Born in the Hudson Valley in 2012, Handsome Devil BBQ has since been smoking award-winning barbecue in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. “I believe in barbecue as comfort food and health food, as a cuisine of both solace and celebration. When I’m feeling good, I want barbecue. And when I’m feeling bad, I just want barbecue more,” says owner, pitmaster, and creative force behind the Hudson Valley brand, Ed Randolph. His philosophy is felt in everything on the menu at Handsome Devil BBQ, and especially in the barbecue sauce.
