Raising the bartaco in Nyack

The tapas-style eatery, known for its casual vibe and outdoor dining spaces, cooks up specialties like wild boar and spicy chorizo

Nyack residents will soon get a taste of the small plate, large flavor style of Barcelona Wine Bar group’s Spanish tapas locale bartaco. The eatery will take over the space that once housed The River Club.

The popular taco spot, which often offers a monthly “secret” taco, currently graces Port Chester and Stamford, CT with its casual, street food menu that boasts spit-roasted chicken, wild boar, slow-cooked pork, as well as fish and fresh vegetables.

The River Club closed in October 2015, after more than 30 years of hosting birthdays, weddings, and community parties. According to Nyack Mayor Jen White, there were six other serious offers to buy out the space, currently owned by the Village of Nyack, but Barteca, bartaco’s parent company, “was the most viable contender.”

With a flair for creating fun outdoor dining experiences, White hopes bartaco will breath new life into Nyack nightlife, expecting ” to see our waterfront get more vibrant.”
