The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company — the Capital Region’s premiere dance troupe — turns 25 this year. As part of the celebration, a special performance at the Egg combines a variety of genres and styles. The 25 dancers each bring a unique quality to the stage for an innovative contemporary show. Named by TIME magazine as America’s best songwriter, Lucinda Williams has been winning admiration — including some from the likes of Bob Dylan and Emmylou Harris — for 30 years. The folk/rock/country artist brings raw emotion to the stage, and has three Grammy awards under her belt. Her greatest success came in the form of her 1998 album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road, which fused rock, blues, country, and Americana. Nothing puts you in the Halloween spirit like the Disney cult classic Hocus Pocus. The 1993 film, which originally debuted to negative reviews but grew in popularity after being frequently aired on ABC Family and released on DVD, follows a trio of witches who try to keep themselves eternally young by stealing the life from a few teenagers. Saunders Farm, a 140-acre 18th-century property that can only be accessed by a dirt road, once again hosts the Collaborative Concepts Farm Project. Now in its 10th year, the project’s main focus is an elaborate sculpture exhibit, with installations from more than 70 artists (both local and international) scattered about the grounds. A mid-run reception on October 3 (rain date October 4) throws dance, opera, and theater programs into the mix from 2-6 p.m. Thru Oct. 31. 10 a.m. to dusk.
