Michael Lund — owner of the Poughkeepsie Ice House on the Hudson — has added a new restaurant to his résumé. The Mill Restaurant & Bar, which calls Vassar Road home, opened in May. The seasonal, farm-fresh menu features new American dishes like grilled flatbread and Lobster Risotto Americana (creamy risotto mixed with lobster, tomatoes, and leeks in a butter tarragon sauce). Their specialty, though, is the Mill Burger — an eight-ounce Creekstone Farm beef burger served on a pretzel bun. (It’s worth noting that several HV editors were completely besotted with the Mill’s entry at our Burger & Beer Bash in July.) While the eatery is small, it’s big on style. The dining area features an ultramodern fireplace framed by stunning black-and-white photos of New York City landmarks and nature scenes. Wooden planks adorn adjacent walls as well as the bar, which seems to bring nature indoors. Perhaps the most interesting feature is the fresh herb containers mounted on the walls.
