Nestled inside a building that dates back to the 1800s, the loving touches and inviting seats of the Irish Tea Shop in East Durham make for a perfect place to warm cold hands with a cup of Barry’s Tea (an Irish staple).
Brian and Bernadette Palmieri, owners of well-known Gavin’s Irish Country Inn in Cornwallville, designed the shop as an ode to the Emerald Isle, rounding off the Irish-themed décor with Ireland-inspired gifts and imported treats, as well as locally made goods for sale.
The inn’s famous Nellie Gavin scones — we love the blueberry and raspberry white chocolate varieties — and Irish soda bread are baked daily.
