Amid the hipster dining outposts sprouting up along Main Street in Beacon comes the pleasantly unpretentious Harry’s Hot Sandwiches. Inside, the checkerboard floor, wainscoting, and Edison lightbulbs exude a retro-cool ambiance without trying too hard. Rolls of brown butcher paper hang from the wall, displaying the menu. Hot sandwiches include a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with cheddar and slaw on brioche, and the “Decent” Chicken with spicy peanut sauce on ciabatta. There’s also a selection of pressed sandwiches like the traditional Cubano (roast pork, ham, pickles, cheese, mustard and habañero mayo) and the “Julio Iglesias’ (peanut butter, honey, fried plantains). For the young at heart, there are PB&J, BLT, and grilled cheese sandwiches.
