What better day for a strictly vegan eatery to host a grand opening than on Earth Day?
Such was the case with consciousfork in Warwick. The establishment serves up smoothies, juices, soups, and desserts (we’re dying to get our hands on the $2 So Delicious Ice Cream Sandwich) that adhere to vegan diet standards, but certainly don’t compromise on taste. Very popular with customers is the “Whole Bowl” (regular $7.50, large $14), a dish that encourages guests to select from myriad grains, proteins, vegetables, and dressings, and essentially create their own meal.
Recycling and sustainability are key here — the meals are served in containers made from plant material, and are hence compostable; even the wooden shelves and counters are made from local fallen (not cut) trees. And if you’re not interested in grabbing a bite but want to try your hand at vegan cooking at home, you can browse the market, which sells many of their ingredients — grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, spices, teas, and organic produce — in bulk.
