If you’re from New York, then you know bagels. It’s kind of our thing; ever had a bagel from Ohio?
Broad Street Bagel Company in Kinderhook is stepping up the New York bagel game, proving that you don’t have to be in the heart of the Big Apple to get a decent bagel.
Opened in August, this newcomer is baking bagels in-house using a 100-year-old recipe that originated in Brooklyn. These water-boiled doughy delights are made from scratch, and are all-natural with no added preservatives. Expect the usual bagel varieties like sesame, poppy, and everything, as well as the less-common French toast bagel, pumpernickel-sunflower seed bagel, and blueberry bagel with vanilla maple cream cheese.
But bagels aren’t the only thing Broad Street is pulling out of the oven. The shop is a full-service bakery, serving homemade muffins, croissants, apple turnovers, coffee cake, and cookies (just to name a few). Still not impressed? How about stopping by for a smoothie, wrap, or sandwich? Even better, all of their coffee and espresso-based drinks are customizable, so don’t be afraid to go crazy when ordering.
