Beer aficionados at the Hudson Hop & Harvest Festival can help protect the environment while savoring their suds. One of the locally made craft beers available at the October 4 event is a harvest ale brewed to benefit Riverkeeper, the Ossining-based environmental organization whose work focuses on keeping the Hudson River clean.

Proceeds from the sale of the as-yet-unnamed beer, brewed in a collaborative effort between Peekskill Brewery and the Captain Lawrence Brewing Company in Elmsford, will help ensure that the region’s drinking water supply remains pure for the nine million New Yorkers who use it. The fest also features top-shelf cuisine prepared with foods from local farms, live music, and a farmers market.
