In September, Ancram’s Hillrock Estate Distillery debuted its Solera Aged Bourbon, crafted using grains grown on the property; a single malt whiskey was set to be released just as we went to press. Jeffrey Baker, who owns the field-to-glass distillery, has enlisted the services of Master Distiller Dave Pickerell, who spent 14 years at Maker’s Mark… Puccini, the traditional Italian on Rhinebeck’s Garden Street, also has new blood: CIA grad Adam Monteverde, formerly of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in New Paltz, is now manning the stove there… DeCicco Family Markets, a Westchester/Putnam/Rockland County food purveyor, opened its ninth location on Harrison’s Halstead Avenue in September. The 40-year-old chain of family-owned and operated stores offers everything from stone fruit to sushi, although they are renowned for their selection of cheeses and beer from throughout the world.
