New & Notable This June

Notes from the Valley’s dining scene.

Chef/co-owner Tim Trojian of Foxfire Mountain House has been cooking amazing meals for guests of this Catskill-chic hotel for the past year, but now the public is welcome to join just for dinner on weekends. The menu is always in motion, but recent favorites include the charcuterie-and-cheese farmer’s platter, cider-roasted local chicken, rustic rosemary focaccia, and Beaverkill Hatchery brook trout fritters. We can never resist Mama’s Boy Burgers’ upscale take on classic diner fare. Now we’re beelining it across the street to their sister act, Mama’s Boy Pizza, where you can snack on seasoned fried cheese curds or locally sourced beef meatballs, then choose between crispy crust pizza combos (like artichoke hearts with spinach, or smoked prosciutto and fresh mozzarella). The best part? An all-you-can-eat pizza bar lunch with a side salad for just over eight bucks! (6062 Main St, Tannersville; 518.589.5199;

If lingering over a fresh oyster sampler and Prosecco on tap sounds like your kind of plan, visit Plumb Oyster Bar, the Collar City’s latest dining destination. Order oh-so-Euro rosemary frites with malt vinegar mayonnaise, or eggplant on garlic crostini. On a warm June day, shrimp with grits, artfully presented in a pool of tomatillo salsa verde, begs for a bone-dry glass of Muscadet. (15 Second St, Troy; 518.326.0194;

All 15 wineries of the Shawangunk Wine Trail (and a few guest vintners) will showcase their best at the 22nd annual Bounty of the Hudson Wine & Food Festival. If you’re 21 or older, come sample local cheeses, honey, baked goods, and produce while listening to live music. Perk alert: Everyone gets a souvenir wine glass. (June 10-11, Ulster County Fairgrounds, 249 Libertyville Rd, New Paltz; 845.256.8456;

Slip on your walking shoes and graze through 15-plus top Rockland restaurants at the Taste of Haverstraw Food Crawl. Tapas-style fusion fare — like Guatemalan enchiladas, pinto bean ravioli with chorizo, and chicken-and-lemongrass dumplings — ranges from $3 to $6 a plate.
