Kingston Bread + Bar

Where: Kingston
Kingston Bread Lab’s naturally leavened loaves and bagels are somewhat iconic in the Hudson Valley – and for good reason. One taste of the crusty, perfectly pocketed breads was all it took to convince locals that yes, they did need to rush over to Rough Draft Bar & Books to pick up whatever was on offer at the pop-up shop before it sold out for the day. Now, the community supported bakery makes a permanent move to the former Kovo space on North Front Street in 2020. Stop by for bready goodness but be warned – you will be making a return trip.

Relish Delights

We love a good deli, and Relish Delights does not disappoint. Led by Chef Dana Johnson, the Columbia Street eatery switches things up from the standard pastrami on rye with healthy, nutritious riffs on salads, sandwiches, and soups. P.S. It’s the perfect lunch spot after a morning stroll at Olana State Historic Site.

Mix N Mac

Where: Wappingers Falls
Everyone’s favorite mac and cheese restaurant (and winner of multiple Best of Hudson Valley awards) brings cheesy goodness to Wappingers Falls with its much-anticipated second location this spring. Right on Route 9, the new outpost delivers just as much cheddar as the Middletown original, with everything from gumbo and white cheddar varieties to the unreasonably addictive mac and cheese balls on rotation. For cheese lovers with dietary restrictions, Mic N Mac has gluten-free and vegan offerings as well.
GioBatta Alimentari

Where: Tivoli
After saying goodbye for good to Mercato Osteria Enoteca, Chef Franceso Buitoni embarks on a new endeavor for the first time in more than ten years. This time around, he returns to his culinary roots in Tivoli to open a casual eatery that prioritizes grab-and-go fare. Not to worry, Mercato fans! Buitoni’s signature pastas will still feature front and center on the menu.

Jane Bakes

Where: East Fishkill
The latest tenant to join the food-centric team of businesses at East Fishkill’s iPark 84, Jane Bakes makes the move upstate from Rockland County. While the new residence will be a dedicated production facility for the brand, it will also play host to a sweet café extension of the Pearl River original. Inside, diners can pair Jane’s amaretto & oatmeal or whiskey & rye chocolate chip cookies with freshly roasted coffee and other treats.

Savona’s Trattoria

Repeat diners at Savona’s in Kingston and Red Hook will be over the moon when the Italian eatery opens its third location in Poughkeepsie. Set to open this winter, the latest outpost is right across the street from Vassar College in the former home of BC Kitchen + Bar. The menu is on par with Savona’s standards and includes mouthwatering pastas and seasonal pizzas that incorporate Hudson Valley ingredients.

The Sweet Onion Brewhouse

Amanda’s Macaron Shoppe

Part of the handful of tenants set to move into the much-anticipated Eastdale Village, Amanda’s Macaron Shoppe will debut this spring. Originally an online-only brand, the gluten-free macaron shop makes its first-ever move to a brick-and-mortar location of its own. When you swing by for tie-dyed treats from the Culinary Institute of America graduate owner, don’t forget to keep an eye out for the macarownie, an over-the-top confection that bakes one of Amanda’s signature macarons into the center of a seriously fudgy brownie.
Paula’s Jet Set Lounge

Where: Wappingers Falls
Paula’s Public House owner Paula Young-Borra brought a delicious new life to the old Tail Winds Café at the Hudson Valley Regional Airport when she opened Paula’s Runway Café in October. Next up, she plans to make the airport even more of a destination when she debuts Paula’s Jet Set Lounge in late spring 2020. With drinks and light bites on the menu, it will be just the place to unwind in Dutchess County.

Rossi’s Rosticceria & Sons

You know it, you love it, you want more of it. Rossi’s, that is. For the first time in its 40-year history, the Little Italy deli in Poughkeepsie is opening is second location. Unlike its original home on South Clover Street, the new spot in Eastdale Village will include much more space, which, as anyone who’s waited on line at the flagship can attest – is a major boon. Stop by for stacked deli sandwiches on homemade bread, then take home every sort of imported antipasti and sauce you can imagine.

Best of Hudson Valley winner Sweetbakes Café says sayonara to Wappingers Falls as it makes the move to Eastdale Village in Poughkeepsie during fall 2020. Announced as the largest sake brewery in New York, Hyde Park’s Asahi Shuzo brewery will also serve as a collaborative partnership with The Culinary Institute of America nearby. Asahi Shuzo’s sake walks the line between everyday table sake and top-tier varietals, so expect sips that are smooth and highly drinkable when the brewery opens later in 2020.

Foreign Objects Nerve Center

For Hudson Valley beer company Foreign Objects, beer is as much about art as it is about the hops that power it. For the brand’s first brick-and-mortar flagship in Monroe, it invites locals to understand the creative process behind the beautifully labeled brews through samples in the tasting room and shopping in the “retail cerebellum.” Anyone who can’t get enough of the art-forward can designs will want to stop by early, since the nerve center will stock special can releases and exclusive themed concoctions.

Roaring 20s Brewery & Taphouse

In the quiet of Columbia County, Roaring 20s Brewery jazzes up the scene with a hybrid taphouse that brings the spirit of the 1920s to the modern day. The watering hole is housed in an old brick schoolhouse from the 1800s and has been lovingly restored to its full glory. City Winery

One of the most anticipated openings in the Hudson Valley for 2020, City Winery’s expansive residence in Orange County is nothing less than paradise for wine lovers. Inside the former grist mill and factory space, the winery will welcome guests to its restaurant and tasting room for dining, drinks, and live music galore. Spirits Lab Distilling Co.

Housed in ADS Warehouse on Ann Street, Spirits Lab is a global-inspired distillery in the heart of Orange County. Once up and running, the Newburgh space will produce small-batch and bespoke spirits that will be available for sampling in the onsite tasting room and craft cocktail bar.

Graft Cider

Newburgh-based hard cider brand Graft Cider stays in town but moves a few streets over for its new production facility and tasting room. Inside the one-time textile factory, Graft will unveil a flagship cidery and tasting room with indoor and outdoor components. As for its OG outpost on Ann Street, owner Kyle Sherrer plans to hold onto it for concept, small-batch projects.
Queen City Farm Distillery

Where: Poughkeepsie
What began as a passion project for two friends from Lourdes High School (Class of 1997, in case anyone’s wondering) will turn into a real-deal distillery on Cannon Street in Poughkeepsie this fall. Queen City Farm’s signature drinks are Apple Sunshine and the aged Apple Wry Sunshine, both of which are produced at Prospect Hill Orchards in Milton. Unlike traditional brandy concoctions, the Sunshines mix organic apples and honey to create a smooth, one-of-a-kind spirit with a 100-proof formulation.

Mercato Osteria Enoteca

Although he made his home in Red Hook for more than 10 years, Chef Francesco Buitoni closed Mercato Osteria Enoteca for good in January. Never fear, pasta lovers! The acclaimed chef says goodbye for now as he relocates operations to Tivoli for his new GioBatta Alimentari, a grab-and-go eatery open for lunch and dinner. Yes, pasta will feature prominently on the menu.
