The merriest time of the year has arrived in the Hudson Valley, and with it comes the return of light shows, holiday markets, and Santa sightings aplenty. While many of the seasonal to-dos are geared toward little ones, there’s no reason why adults can’t join in on the festivities, too. Case in point: Miracle at Flores makes celebrating the season as easy as ordering a cocktail – and a good one, too. After all, Miracle at Flores is a holiday pop-up bar, and it’s here to bring all things over-the-top festive to the Hudson Valley this winter.
What is Miracle at Flores?
Hosted by Flores Restaurant & Bar in Wappingers Falls, Miracle at Flores is a limited-time holiday pop-up experience filled with seasonal décor, themed holiday cocktails, and special events. While the one at Flores is the only Miracle location in the Hudson Valley, the pop-up concept is part of a program that boasts participating locations around the world. For the Flores team, partnering with Miracle was a no-brainer, since it gave them the opportunity to bring even more Christmas cheer to the Hudson Valley.
“[Miracle’s] parent company Cocktail Kingdom is a vendor that we use,” Danielle Flores, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband Austin, explains. “We actually went to a bar show in NYC back in 2021, and they had a booth set up with all the Miracle mugs, which of course caught our eye! We spoke to them that day about the program and fell in love with it. We signed up a month or two later and have been running the program ever since!”
What to expect
Upon stepping foot into Flores, it’s easy to see just how much the restaurant leans into the holidays. The pop-up concept means the eatery is decorated to the nines with red, green, and an abundance of seasonal sparkle.
“We like to say it’s like vintage Santa Claus took over the restaurant,” Danielle shares, adding that visitors can expect “tons of holiday décor, delicious themed holiday cocktails, and themed holiday events all season long.”
The stars of the show at Miracle are undoubtedly the holiday cocktails. Festive drinks with equally festive names span the substantial drinks menu, ensuring there’s a sip for everyone. On the lighter side, the Christmapolitan leans into those post-Thanksgiving vibes with vodka, elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, lime, rosemary, and absinthe mint. For a true taste of the season, there’s nothing like the Stocking Stuffer, which features bourbon, Pedro Ximenez sherry, amaro, cinnamon syrup, iced “hot” chocolate, aromatic bitters, and marshmallow.
For Danielle, the Christmapolitan and the Hot Buttered Rum, a hot drink with Jamaican rum and spices galore, are standouts, although she admits they’re all delicious. And, for individuals who want a quick hit of the holidays, the two shots on the menu should do just the trick. Depending on which list (you know the one) you’re on, the Nice Shot (rye whiskey, gingerbread) or the Naughty Shot (tequila, habanero, ginger, hibiscus) will warm up the palate perfectly.
And, to pair with the libations, Flores dishes up menu favorites and seasonal offerings galore. Starters like Korean barbecue pork belly and Brussels sprouts are perfect for snacking, while taco trios or heartier sandwiches and burgers are ideal for those who plan to spend more time at the pop-up.
More holiday fun
While Miracle, which runs from November 15 to January 5, is the main attraction at Flores this time of year, it’s far from the only one. To add to the festivities, the restaurant has a number of to-dos planned over the coming weeks, including Christmas-themed movie nights, fundraisers, raffles, and a comedy show event.
