Make Memorial Day Delicious With These Hudson Valley Takeout Deals

Embrace the holiday vibes at home with to-go barbecue, fried chicken, and cocktails from local restaurants.

This is not your standard Memorial Day weekend, Hudson Valley.

Although select portions of New York State have commenced the early stages of reopening (including the Capital Region, for all you Albany-area residents), the Hudson Valley continues to operate under NYS on Pause regulations as it works toward achieving all seven of the required benchmarks for reopening. Because of this, any holiday celebrations will be – like the rest of quarantine – small, socially distant, and hosted at home.

Governor Cuomo announced that Memorial Day ceremonies of 10 people or fewer are allowed across the state, although final decisions are left to local governments to decide. As for local beaches, which are normally a favorite destination for Hudson Valleyites during the holiday weekend, state beaches are open with certain restrictions, so it’s a good idea to call ahead before visiting any nearby watering holes.

No matter what, however, no Memorial Day in the Hudson Valley is complete without a spread of mouthwatering barbecue, burgers, and springtime bites. That’s why we’ll be calling in our orders to these local restaurants, which hit their holiday menus out of the park with some of the most delectable dishes around.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, Hudson Valley!

The Cuckoo’s Nest

The Cuckoo’s Nest does Memorial Day right with bundles for every sort of craving. The one-and-done BBQ package feeds four to six and includes a rack of ribs, a whole barbecue chicken, pulled pork, strawberry salad, corn, and a mixed six-pack of craft beer. For smaller bites, each of the dishes, along with a number of others, can be ordered individually to craft a customized menu. All orders must be placed by May 22, with pickup from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on May 24.

Iron & Wine Restaurant

Want something other than a burger on Memorial Day? Iron & Wine’s paella platters are the way to go. With a full tray of paella that’s ready to heat on the grill and a pitcher of sangria or margaritas, the restaurant’s holiday package will give you all the summer feels in the Hudson Valley.
