It’s maple syrup season in the Hudson Valley, and the perfect time to make tasty treats from the region’s fresh-tapped bounty.
½ cup maple syrup
3 Tbs butter
1 large egg, beaten
2 Tbs milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
¾ cup chopped walnuts
Melt the butter, remove from heat and add the maple syrup, egg and milk.
Sift in the dry ingredients and mix thoroughly; add the chopped walnuts.
Drop rounded tablespoons onto a lightly greased cookie sheet a couple of inches apart.
Bake in a 400-degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
Let cool and serve at room temperature.
