You just know that when you see the proclamation “Breakfast served all day” that you’ve come to a happy place. Opened in 1986 by Maggie Landis, the cafeÌ on Tannersville’s main drag is housed in a circa 1870 Victorian with lots of “crooked” architectural detail. Inside, it’s just as pretty, with beadboard walls, church benches painted robin’s egg blue, and an array of artwork that reflects the owner’s travels.
Every meal begins with a platter of fresh fruit. The kitchen sees a lot of orders for eggs Florentine — sauteÌed fresh spinach and poached eggs on toasted English muffins, served with hollandaise sauce and home fries ($13.25). Ditto for the Ploughman’s Breakfast ($11.95), a hearty spread of eggs, bacon or ham, mixed-grain silver dollar pancakes, home fries, and toast — perfect when a day of hiking or winter sports lies ahead. A simple bowl of piping hot oatmeal is appealing in its Goldlilocks simplicity, served with butter and syrup ($5.25). 518-589-6101; www.krookedcafe.com
