One of the Hudson Valley’s favorite canned cocktail brands has just released a set of three limited edition flavors that are sure to put you in the Halloween spirit. The new cocktails are up for grabs this weekend at the Beacon-based business’s tasting room, where all are welcome to join in on the fun and grab a festive cocktail on draft or snag a few cans to bring home. These seasonal flavors are known as the “Gathering of the Goons,” Liquid Fables’ annual spooky season drop that’s just in time for Halloween.
This year’s Gathering of the Goons includes candy-inspired cocktails that use different ingredients than the brand’s typical flavors. Peanut Butter Cup is a rich chocolate and peanut combination that’s not dissimilar to peanut-butter-lovers’ favorite Halloween candy, while Sour Patch Blue Raspberry is inspired by sour gummy candy. The final flavor, Junior Mints, boasts the highest alcohol content of the three cans and is for all the chocolate-peppermint fans out there. Each can has a cool design hand-drawn by the owner of NYC-based creative studio SK Design Studio.

Why Halloween? Liquid Fables prides itself on telling stories through its creative cocktails, and Halloween is the perfect holiday to invent new and exciting flavors thanks to the surplus of creepy, crawly, fictitious (and real) characters associated with the October celebration. With year-round cocktails like The Boy Who Cried Wolf and the Tortoise & the Hare, Liquid Fables likes to keep to its tradition of creating flavors that are inspired by the magical, mythical, and legendary. In the past, the Gathering of the Goons flavors have featured characters such as Frankenstein, vampires, and witches, and this year’s drop is all about sirens, skeletons, and she-devils.

This weekend, the new cocktail flavors will be available on draft, as flights, or in slushie form for visitors to taste in-house, and the boozy beverages will also be for sale by the can – but get them quick because there is a limited supply! Along with this year’s flavors, Liquid Fables will have a few fan favorites from past Halloweens on draft, including last year’s Sour Patch Watermelon and Milky Way flavors and 2021’s Candy Apple cocktail. A special treat that’s only available in the tasting room is a pumpkin aged cocktail – a bourbon-based Negroni, otherwise known as a Boulevardier, inside a carved-out pumpkin to give it a fall kick.

Aside from the Gathering of the Goons, Liquid Fables has a few other autumn-themed drinks to enjoy all season long. Try the Core + Cask series, which blends New York State apples with rye whiskey, for something sweet, or the Fall in a Can Pumpkin Mule – a 5.5% ABV cocktail with pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, and ginger.
